Highlands Walkers and Hikers
Description: Highlands Walkers and Hikers is a group currently in hibernation for the winter but will emerge in Spring 2019. Its purpose is to organize periodic group walks and hikes for Highlands residents in/on the wonderful parks and hiking trails in the Portland area. Locations being considered include the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, Jenkins Estate, Lowami Hart Woods, Summerlake Park, Fanno Creek Trail (multiple segments), Westside Regional Trail in Beaverton, Cook Park to Tualatin Municipal Park, Cooper Mountain Nature Park, and Tualatin Hills Nature Park. It is anticipated that walks/hikes will also be scheduled in parks along the Columbia River and in the Gorge, and perhaps even along the coast, with lunch. Distances will be varied to accommodate those with both limited and extended walking/hiking ability.
When and where your group meets: When is TBD, but most likely the group planners will schedule multiple walks/hikes per month. Activities will be promoted in the Highlands Highlights newsletter and on the Highlands calendar, as well as via HiNet — and on this web page. Participants will meet in the Highlands clubhouse parking lot to share rides.
How other residents might get involved: Highlands Walkers and Hikers is open to all residents of our community. All can participate in the activities and are welcome to join the planning group.
What folks would need to bring if they want to join in: Comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water!
