The Committees and Clubs are Where It's Happening in the Highlands!Groups of Highlands residents gather together to discuss common interests, to develop solutions to challenges facing the Highlands Community, to create works of art (like with the Sewing and Coloring Clubs), or maybe just to have fun and work up a sweat (like with Zumba and the Indoor Walking Aerobics groups). There really are two different kinds of groups, though:
Committees are groups of Highlanders that are tasked by the HOA Board — sometimes only for a short term — to work together on a particular community-wide topic, such as Finance or the Architecture & Landscape Committees. The ALC is the only committee that is specifically chartered by the Governing Documents. These Committees focus on their particular area, periodically report to the Board on their progress, and they might receive funding from the Board for projects they initiate. Committee meetings are usually open to Highlands residents — and they're often looking for new members, too!
Clubs, on the other hand, are more informal gatherings, and tend to be a lot more fun! Clubs are usually groups of folks who share a special interest, such as a hobby or recreational activity. The Clubs in the Highlands even extend to dining excursions, hiking and walking trips, going out to see a local play or concert, or perhaps taking in a presentation by a featured speaker. Clubs are always open to new participants. Join in!
